About Historic Junee

Junee is an historic rail town, set in the middle of the grain fields of the riverina.
Primary production includes grain, canola and the supply of lamb and beef .
Many of the  towns historic buildings remain, including a number of old pubs. These include the Loftus, which is set in the main street.

It is said that Junee also has the most haunted house  in Australia, Monte Cristo. Stories abound about events that have taken place here.
Organic licorice is produced in the old flour mill and a tour is well worth a visit.
Today, rail still plays and important part of the towns economy. A number of rail companies operate from Junee and it is not unusual to see a number of people exploring the old station precint.
If you want to see a blast from the past, then visit the roundhouse and take a guided tour. You can see how people travelled in the past, whilst the kids will enjoy the model train exhibition.
Junee has a number of special events during the year. These include a poker run, in Febuary, the famous Rhythm to Rail festival in March and regular concerts and market days. Please review the Junee Council web site for details or contact us.
We are also close to Temora, which has numerous air shows during the year. Accomodation for the above events is best to be booked well in advance to avoid disappointment.
